Georges Jouve Asymmetrical Ceramic Bowl Georges Jouve (French, 1910-1964) circa 1950s gun metal black ceramic bowl. Basically circular but beautifully asymmetrical with offset centering and a gentle slope. The base carries both an incised signature Jouve and his distinctive cipher mark (also ink stamped France). Blenko #7225X Charisma Decanter Rare Blenko 7225X Charisma decanter design by John Nickerson for Blenko. This is one of two decanters in the Charisma specialty line that was produced for only one year. These pieces feature Blenko’s original ruby red color swirled into clear crystal making very striking patterns. Sigheaki Asahara for Stilnovo Luna Lamp A rarely seen 80's Memphis movement Stilnovo (Italy) lamp by Sigheaki Asahara called Luna. Low voltage (12-V) converter integrated into base for 35-w halogen bulb recessed into a porcelain funne at the top of the chrome bodyl. This lamp features a fully adjustable in height and angle reflector (red on top white on reflecting surface). (Sigheaki is well known for his more commonly seen Tokio Lamp). Large Laurel Egg Lamp Largest size of this 1960s Egg-shaped Laurel lamp with hand-blown white frosted special triplex glass, made in Italy. Blenko #6123LL Jonquil Decanter Architectural sized extra large (LL) version of the 1961 designed 6123 decanter by Wayne Husted for Blenko. This decanter, produced 1961-1964, features a large textured solid stopper and is in Jonquil Yellow. Metal woman sculpture Abstract metal woman sculpture in steel (magnetic) with elongated limbs - in the style of Alberto Giacometti. This piece is just under two feet long and weighs just over 7-lbs. It was photographed on the wall using a removable metal wire hook fabricated by previous owner. Dansk IHQ Large Staved Teak Canoe Bowl Early example of Jens Quistgaard's largest sized staved teak canoe shaped bowl in great original condition. So early the base markings don't even include the Dansk company name just their three ducks or three swans logo and the words "Staved Teak Danmark IHQ" (for Jens Quisgaard) Rebajes Copper Petal Bowl Vintage copper bowl by Francisco/Frank Rebajes' well known, primarily for jewelry, Rebajes company (New York 1932-1960). Base is fully marked with the Rebajes name and sideways "8" logo. This bowl is formed from eight blackened petals stemming from the hand beaten base. Erkki Vesanto for Iittala Gray Vase Erkki Vesanto for Iittala (Finland) vase. Dimple in base crystal over and gray. Signed with model number - looks like 5656 Eero Aarnio Chairs Matched pair of Eero Aarnio (Finland) designed (circa 1968) satin finish chrome framed chairs with stainless steel backs and black upholstery. (Similar to the “Silver Series” 822 design for Mobel Italia). Evelyn Ackerman Wall Carving 1954 Evelyn Ackerman primitive figures wood bas-relief carved panel (appears to be solid walnut). Highly collectible CA based Mid-Century modern artist. This one unsigned, but otherwise identical to our previous one sold in 2006 (items #261). Isamu Noguchi Vintage Bamboo Table Lamp Vintage version of one of Isamu Noguchi’s lamps for Akari Lighting (Japan). Designed by Noguchi beginning in 1951 and handmade for a half century by the original manufacturer in Gifu, Japan. The stand has bamboo pole and a black cast iron base. The shade is made from handmade washi paper and bamboo ribbing. The lamp accommodates up to a 40 watt bulb. This one from the BB2 series. Howard Miller Meridian Era Wall Clock Hexagonal walnut AC electric wall clock from the “Meridian” series era (Model number 560). Herman Miller Company - Zealand Michigan. Electric movement has regulator adjustment. Copco Michael Lax Sauce Warmer set Copco (Made in Denmark) Black cast iron sauce warming or mini-fondue set. Designed by Michael Lax Count Sigvard Bernadette. Pan is black enameled inside and out, base has natural finish. Comes with original labels and recipes. Black and Chrome Armchair and Ottoman Very nice modern 1960s designed scoop shaped chrome framed armchair and ottoman upholstered in black vinyl or Naugahyde. Original shop label shows Frank & Sons on Park Avenue New York, first sold it in April 1968. (Just over 40-years old in excellent condition) Bennington Potters David Gil Face Sculpture Early David Gil (1922-2002) for Bennington Potters (founded in Vermont 1948) ceramic face sculpture on metal pedestal base. Stamped DG for David Gil. At some time the mouth has been broken and re-attached. The repair is not noticeable from the front but very obvious from the back (see detailed photos) Cini Boeri - Lunario coffee table 1970 for Knoll and Gavina Gavina (Italy) model – of Cini Boeri’s incredible Lunario cantilevered coffee table design. It has a 1/2 inch thick glass top almost magically counterbalanced on an offset chrome base concealing heavy steel weight supports inside. (Local DC area delivery possible) Jan Ekselius lounge chair and ottoman Jan Ekselius (Sweden) chair and ottoman similar to his Etcetera chair. Covered in original orange stretch fabric and foam over steel tubular frame. Great 70s MOD design for any Austin Powers type pad. (Local DC area delivery possible) Blenko #588 Rocket Decanter Rare Blenko 588 decanter. First of Wayne Husted's large architectural sized decanters for Blenko, designed in 1958 and affectionately known by many collectors as "the rocket decanter". This one in Tequila Sunrise (tangerine) with full sandblasted signature meaning it was produced in either 1959 or 1960. Tall as a chair with a huge onion shaped stopper. Austin Enterprises 1962 Chess Set and board Largest of two modernist styled extruded aluminum chess sets designed by Austin E Cox for Austin Enterprises and manufactured by the Alcoa Aluminum Company in excellent condition. The pieces range in height from 3.75-ins tall pawns to 4.75-ins tall Kings and Queens. The white pieces are in natural aluminum while the black pieces are black anodized on all their non-cut faces. All pieces have their bases stamped with “© 1962 Austin Enterprises”. This set comes in it’s original two and a half feet long wooden (wall mountable) presentation display case with blue Plexiglas sliding lid and includes the original matching heavy aluminum framed blue chess board. Neal Small – Pair of Acrylic Plexiglas Floor lamps Perfect matched pair of super MOD space age 1968 glossy white acrylic Plexiglas floor lamps by designer/sculptor Neal Small for Neal Small Design Inc., New York. Each lamp is formed from two identical pieces of molded white acrylic, which together form both the lighting globe and its stand. The two pieces are held together with high quality chromed hardware. (This design was also available in small 18-ins table lamp sizes). Jere 1963 Metal Art Cat Sculpture Unusually colorful 1963 vintage Jere metal and acrylic cat table sculpture. The cat’s metal body is filled with colored (blue, orange and green) translucent acrylics that make it an ideal piece for display in a window with back-lighting. Look closely and you can see there is a fish inside the cat’s belly! Signed and dated 1963. Paul Mayen for Habitat Table Lamp MOD chrome table lamp. Paul Mayen for HABITAT design produced in the 1970s. The shade is a thick white (not at all yellowed) translucent "Lumacryl" plastic. The shade is closed out at the top with a white metal disk. Gustavsberg – Small Argenta series bowls Pair of small Wilhelm Kage for Gustavsberg (Sweden) Argenta series (silver detailing over green glaze) bowls. Walter Zeischegg Helit Ashtray in original Box MOD heavy plastic ashtray (Ascher) by Helit (West Germany) designed by (1917-1983) - great design object in white. Vintage Californian Art Couroc Owl Tray Large sized serving tray by Couroc (Monterey, California, USA) with detailed Owl on a branch motif. (Very functional piece as apparently impervious to alcohol, boiling water and cigarette burns) Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen Series 7 chairs Originally designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen (Denmark) in 1955 the Series 7 chair was the most commercially successful of his series formed ply chairs stemming from the original 1953 ant chairs and is still in production by Fritz Hansen today. This set of four chairs are all dated between 1991 and 1992 and look very space aged in their white painted form. Dansk Vivianna Silver plate Corkscrew Super fluid formed, discontinued 1980s silver plated corkscrew designed by Swedish silversmith and jeweler Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe (1927-2004) for Dansk (Denmark). Comes with original box (Thank you Marguerite!) Evelyn Ackerman Wall Carving Evelyn Ackerman wooden bas-relief carved panel depicting the figure of a girl carrying flowers. Walter Bosse style cast metal Hedgehogs Complete set of six metal Hedgehog ashtrays based on a set originally designed in the 1950s/1960s by Walter Bosse (Austrian Ceramicist). This set appears to be cast in steel with an overall black colored finish that has been partially removed to enhance the surface detailing. Dux Lounge Chair Pair and Ottoman Nice pair of vintage Danish Modern styled lounge chairs by Dux (Sweden) with ottoman. Both chairs have an ebony lacquered wooden frame and both chairs recline somewhat. The heavier chair with matching ottoman has classic upholstered seat and back cushions on an all-wooden frame. The second chair has a slim lined metal-framed seat and backrest mounted to a simpler wooden frame. Both chairs have been completely re-upholstered with new foam and a good quality heavy fabric. (The original foam was hardened as it had begun to crystallize). Bjorn Wiinblad Rosenthal Studio Linie Vase Bjorn Wiinblad white porcelain figural vase of a Girl holding a Flower for Rosenthal Studio-Linie (Studio Line) of Germany. This is the 14.5-inch version from the original production (newer re-issues have gold guilding to distinguish them). Hippo by Paul Bellardo for Austin Productions Largish hippo sculpture by Paul Bellardo for Austin Productions 1980. One of three hippo designs - this is probably the mother hippo? The original card carrying the artist bio (first Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Scholarship, Clarissa Bartlet Scholarship with pieces in the permanent collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and Chrysler Art Museum) is held in a small plastic envelope under the base. The RR marked Vienna bronzes are often incorrectly attributed to Rena Rosenthal (especially within the US). It is not possible to stamp the bronze through the black-patina post manufacture without damaging it and according to Karl Hagenauer they never placed the RR mark on their pieces. Extract from the museum's web site ..."William" is a bright blue hippopotamus just under 8 inches high located in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Egyptian galleries. He is made of faience, a ceramic material that is fired at a high temperature, and is decorated with lotus blossoms, which represent the hippo's creative forces in nature. An Englishman, Captain H. M. Raleigh, and his family owned a picture of the hippopotamus, which they named William. In 1931 the captain wrote an article for the magazine Punch about his picture of William. This one in a light blonde (probably beech) wood similar to that used by Heywood Wakefield. The horse is comprised of fifteen (15) separate nicely carved and well finished pieces of wood. The wood is up to 3/4-in thick. Each is screw mounted through a plywood backing covered in a dark purple velvet fabric. The whole thing comes in a matching very well crafted solid wood frame. Unique vintage MOD Lamp Pair As colorful as hot air balloons and the size of beach balls - this unique pair of vintage lamps are constructed from welded black coated steel rod with colored (smoked clear; blue; green; red; yellow and white) Plexiglas type panels bolted on. Although the lamps are clearly old they have recently been re-wired and are currently configured as plug-in swag lamps with long chains but can easily be converted to be ceiling mounted. Each lamp also comes with a huge over-sized incandescent lamp bulb. Blenko #55 - Face Vase With only about a dozen known original 1955 examples in existence, this large sculptural floor vase is an ultra rare Blenko piece. Designed in 1955 by Wayne Husted for Blenko - known as the face or portrait vase. This particular example is in in classic Blenko Blue known as both Teal and Turquoise. Philip Taub 1959/1960 Abstract Reliefs Two framed abstract reliefs by Philip Taub (the single figure is dated 1959 and the band piece is dated 1960). Both pieces are in some sort of textured plastic with the colors applied to it. Very bold and graphical, somewhat in the style of Frederick Wienberg. Unusually, we can find no other information on the artist or his work. 1950s Aluminum Glider Rocker and Chair Patio Set 1950s floral patterned Aluminum Patio set in almost perfect original condition with original floral print cushions. This three piece set includes a loveseat glider, a rocking chair and standard armchair. The frames are made entirely from extruded aluminum while the zippered cushions are made from a weave reinforced plastic and are stuffed with "ginger fiber" coconut husk hair or similar. Judging by the condition this set has never been exposed to the elements and remains ideal for porch or sun room use.
